Christine + Diego’s wedding day was bright and beautiful; one of those days that reminds you of why everyone loves living in South Florida (especially in the winter). Their wedding day was filled with personal touches: from the Miami University campus chapel for their ceremony to the care they took to include their families’ diverse customs and heritages, each part of the day felt personal and inspired. The cocktail hour and reception were held beneath the soaring trees of the Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden, where guests mingled with myriad tropical plants, studded with enormous Chihuly glass sculptures (which are really worth checking out if you’re in the area).
Family was obviously hugely important to this wedding celebration. Diego’s family imported traditional Spanish jamon iberico (a cured pork delicacy that puts Virginia ham to shame) and Christine incorporated many Vietnamese traditions at the tea ceremony the night before, where family of all ages gathered at her parents’ home to celebrate… and cook and serve an enormous amount of delicious food. (There may be another blog post for that night later.) During the reception Christine’s sister and brother invited her to join them in singing Cyndi Lauper’s “Time After Time” to the delight of everyone who watched; no one who has a sibling had a dry eye after that one!
