Monica + Jake | Vermont Elopement Portraits

by Emily Pogozelski

Note from Emily: This session was a bit of a surprise for me!  I headed back to my home state of Vermont to visit with my parents for a few days between Mystic 6 and ImagingUSA, and knew that my trip would overlap my younger sister Monica’s visit by about 12 hours.  Since she was bringing her boyfriend Jake home to meet the family, I was looking forward to both meeting him and doing a casual portrait session of the two of them, as they live in Oregon and we don’t get to see each other very often.  Long story short, it turns out that the happy couple eloped back in December, and this was now going to be their wedding portrait session!  Needless to say, I’m completely thrilled for them, and hope they love these photos as much as I do.  We went to downtown White River Junction, Vermont on a bitterly cold day (which happened to be Monica’s birthday!)… despite some initial shivering, I think they got into the shoot really quickly (coffee and tea at Tuckerbox definitely helped!).  I love-love-love the “bride and groom” outerwear… so cute!

Oh, wow! Seeing these pictures brings back the feelings of Monica & Jake’s visit with such sweetness it warms up the whole house! I especially enjoy the juxtaposition of urban textures with the colors of winter and the gentle glow of love. I am, indeed blessed with amazingly beautiful and talented daughters and now, a second son-in-law. Well done, ladies!
