Tina + Angelo | Charleston, South Carolina | Destination Wedding

by Emily Pogozelski

An event eleven years in the making (which is conveniently their hashtag: #11yearsinthemaking), Tina + Angelo officially tied the knot last Saturday in sparklingly beautiful Charleston, South Carolina. This was a true destination wedding; not a single guest or family member was a local (even we came from Florida!). Charleston is a very special place for Tina + Angelo, as he spent his formative years at the prestigious Citadel, and after years of spending time there together it only seemed natural to have their wedding in a place dear to their hearts.

Also dear to their hearts are the 13 women (many ladies from Kappa Kappa Gamma) and 12 men who stood up as the bridesmaids and groomsmen. We’ve had fun with a lot of big groups at weddings in the past, but we were blown away by the friendship, emotion, dedication and joy expressed on both sides of the aisle, which is particularly touching to see coming from the guys: honesty and heartfelt emotion was definitely everywhere all day. We count ourselves lucky to bear witness to such a happy occasion, but especially want to thank the wedding party for being so incredibly kind and helpful throughout the weekend (not to mention Tina + Ang, of course!). We also loved spending time with Julie (the matron of honor and one of our brides from years ago), her husband Nate, and their daughter Kathryn, who was Tina’s flower girl. It’s always so great to have familiar faces in the crowd of new friends!

This was definitely a difficult blog post to cut down… there were just so many moments we loved! A few highlights you’ll see below: the guys ran into the Charleston Hat Ladies at the Thoroughbred Club at Charleston Place; it’s hard to tell who was having more fun, the ladies or the groomsmen. The ladies all gathered around Tina’s maid of honor’s laptop to watch the slideshow she created for the couple (great job, Adriana!); and it was so sweet to see the shared hankie with embroidered names from Tina’s sorority, with hers as the newest, all stitched in blue. Just after the ceremony when Tina + Angelo passed the last swordsman she was given a traditional sendoff tap on the bottom… check out her face! During family formals Tina’s parents and Angelo’s parents suddenly realized that they were family; fist bumps and laughter all around. At the reception the dance floor was hilarious: from the ring bearer wanting to party with the band’s talented singer to groomsmen breakdancing, from mardi gras beads to photobooth props being passed around, it was high energy through the whole night. Four very emotional speeches touched our hearts (making us thankful for autofocus when tears threatened).

All around? Quite a weekend, and one that we won’t soon forget. Thank you to EVERYONE for making us feel so welcome, we truly felt like part of the celebration. Em, I always love the way you display the gown, this was great, from the outside! Scrolled back on that one to be sure. And the ladies hat club, had Steve written all over it. Everyone was laughing. The props the bride and groom chose seemed to make it more special to them. Beautiful photos all the way around.

Thanks Kathy! Believe it or not, the dress shot from outside the building was Steve’s idea! xoxo Em
