Weddings in Vermont are always beautiful, but there’s something about photographing Vermonters in their own state that makes me especially happy. Courtney + Matt call the Burlington area home, but chose to celebrate their wedding at one of our favorite places: Hildene, the Lincoln Family Home. By pure luck they wound up with one of the most spectacular fall days I’ve ever seen: foliage bursting with color, blue skies peppered with little clouds, and weather…

Sara + Paul’s wedding day is a perfect example of September in Vermont: the hint of fall weather is just around the corner, but it still feels summery enough to want to drink in the sunshine all day by the lake (which made their choice of venue, Basin Harbor in Vergennes, Vermont, absolutely perfect). The relaxed and happy vibe at Basin Harbor brings to mind family vacation spots that usually only show up in movies…
We first met up with Nina + AJ at the base of Mount Mansfield just before their engagement session. The adventurous spirit that brought us to the top of a 4000′ Vermont peak on that sunny June afternoon was present throughout their entire wedding day. (Of course having Hildene as the background for their Vermont wedding doesn’t hurt!) Nina began her day at the nearby Hill Farm Inn while AJ got ready with family and…
It’s not very often that we begin conversations with future clients like this: “You know, you guys should just elope. Go somewhere awesome. Keep it tiny. Make it yours.” Wait, that sounds weird. Let’s back up. When we first started exploring the idea of expanding to Vermont for the summer/fall wedding season we met fellow photographer Paul Reynolds through Facebook, and he blew us away with his friendly and welcoming nature. (When we later met…
Okay, this time-flying-by thing is getting a little scary. It’s February already, and it feels like we JUST posted January’s 10 on 10. (Not sure what I’m talking about? Click here to see the first month and learn a bit more about the 10 on 10 project, and click here to see all of the posts to date.) This month is a tiny bit different… we were in Vermont for a long weekend, meeting new friends in the wedding industry…
There’s nothing like a summer day in Vermont. Hiking a hill in the warm sun carrying clothing and equipment for a portrait session may not appeal to everyone, but Emily and Margot both grew up in this beautiful state; dodging cow patties, avoiding brambles, and eating crab apples are all just part of the experience. This I Love Vermont session is to celebrate Margot’s 30th birthday this year; we couldn’t think of a better location…
Jessica and Ian were married on the 23rd of May at Rockledge Farm in Weathersfield, Vermont. It was a perfect late spring afternoon, sunny and warm… the weather couldn’t have been better! We had a great time celebrating with Jessica & Ian and their families, and came home with so many great images.
