Another month has flown by, and it’s time for my second 10 on 10 post! (Didn’t see last month’s? Click here to see it and learn a bit more about the 10 on 10 project.) The images for this month’s post were so hard to narrow down. I spent three lovely days at Acadia National Park (we stayed at nearby Bar Harbor, Maine) with my dad and stepmom; having a full summer schedule I’ve barely had time to look…

As we’ve surely mentioned before, becoming friends with our clients is our normal routine. Not only does it make the wedding day more fun, it tends to make the images feel more intimate and connected when we’re already close with the people in them. Occasionally we’ll connect with a couple more strongly than we usually do, which is one of the best feelings in the world; this is how we feel about Sarah + Todd.…

And so on the 10th of July we start something new. A couple of months ago we made a new friend; Courtney of Courtney Z Photography in Portland, Oregon found our website and asked if we’d be interested in an online monthly blogging project. The idea is for professional photographers to commit to a year of blogging monthly; every month on the 10th we’ll each post ten images that were taken in our personal lives on one…

We’ve been meaning to post this wonderful wedding for a while, but travel and our shooting schedule kept getting in the way! After the momentous news about the Supreme Court’s ruling on marriage equality last month, we got an excited email from Lori + Sara encouraging us to post images from their wedding. Thanks for the prodding! We’re so happy for you and for everyone!  –Em + Steve Working with Lori + Sara on their wedding…

We can’t help but grin every time we think of Angela + John. It doesn’t hurt that they have adorable cats [who made a cameo at their engagement session last fall], and that they’re some of the most laid-back and happy people we’ve ever known. Their wedding day was the epitome of relaxation; despite all the potential stressors of a day this complex, these two let everything just melt away while they laughed and enjoyed…

A year ago we heard about an amazingly inexpensive deal for a trip to Iceland. (We soon learned that Iceland in November is pretty much the extreme off-season, with the sun rising around 10am and setting at 3:30pm… but it’s still an incredible place to see.) We figured hey… why not? We usually try to travel or escape around Thanksgiving anyway, as we’re both turkey babies, so we booked the trip on a whim and…

We often photograph weddings at the Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens in West Palm Beach (as we will soon with Sarah + Todd’s upcoming day), but this was the first chance we’ve had to shoot an engagement session in this lush location. The day ended up being perfect for it; overcast skies with deep tree cover from the rare palms and jungle trees makes for a quiet beauty that isn’t always seen in our sunny state.…

One of the best things about our chosen path in photography is getting to meet new people and make new friends. You may recall Megan + Glen and their beautiful daughter Gabby from family portrait sessions we’ve published here; we actually met them at the wedding of their besties Nicole + Scott two years ago, and we were beyond thrilled when they asked us to be their photographers for their own wedding day. In what ended up…

And now for something completely different. As you may or may not have figured out already, we traveled for no reason other than fun and a love of adventure to Iceland last November. Why? Why not? It’s been on our bucket lists for years, and an insanely good deal on airfare and a hotel sealed the deal for us. While we eagerly awaited our departure date, Iceland seemed to pop up everywhere. Photographers we know…

Christine + Diego’s wedding day was bright and beautiful; one of those days that reminds you of why everyone loves living in South Florida (especially in the winter). Their wedding day was filled with personal touches: from the Miami University campus chapel for their ceremony to the care they took to include their families’ diverse customs and heritages, each part of the day felt personal and inspired. The cocktail hour and reception were held beneath the soaring trees…

We seriously can’t get over how tall this kiddo is. At 5 years old Kylar is already towering over her peers; we’re sure she’s going to get sick of hearing people ask if she’s a model or a basketball pro pretty soon. We love spending time with this family, though it’s a surreal way of realizing that yet another year has flown by (we photographed Kylar as a baby-bump before she was born, and then at…

We are super excited to work with Lindsay + Deche on their wedding day; it already feels like we’re old friends, given how many times we’ve photographed their friends and classmates over the last few years. We got together with them while they were in town to shoot their engagement session, and we can’t get over how excited and happy they both look… basically all the time. We love that they personalized their session by…

We love our wedding clients. We really do. We end up becoming good friends with many, and stay in touch with nearly everyone after the wedding day. But sometimes there are clients who we instantly bond with from the moment we meet, and look forward to every time we see them from that point forward. Nicole + Scott (engagement, wedding, day after session) are the kind of people who make you grin the second you see them.…

We joined Lauren + Brett and their adorable almost-one-year-old Zach at the Morikami Japanese Gardens for their family portraits earlier this month. What a perfectly beautiful day for outdoor portraits! The sun was shining almost as brightly as Zach’s winning smile. We wandered the gardens slowly, taking our time throughout the afternoon to capture casual family interactions as well as some classic portraits. (And we seriously can’t get over Zach’s face in the lead photo;…

Nicole + Weston’s wedding day was predicted to be a rainy one, but miraculously the rain held off until every guest was inside the brand new reception hall at the Jupiter Country Club in Jupiter, Florida. (On a side note, we love shooting everywhere our clients take us… but it’s kinda fun having only a five minute drive home at the end of a long party!) Nicole is an event planner, so every detail was planned perfectly,…

We met up with Mindy + Anthony at MacArthur Beach State Park on Singer Island for their engagement session recently, and the weather was absolutely beautiful! Anthony’s sister Cindy was one of our brides a couple of years ago, so technically we’d already met, but it was fun to spend some time together without the controlled chaos of a destination wedding distracting everyone! Mindy + Anthony’s love is touching, sweet, and obviously deeply seated, with the…

I met Stacy + Ryan at the very beginning of their love story; while we’ve been in touch on Facebook and other internet connections, we hadn’t actually seen each other in ten years. In the ten years since then life has happened: college degrees, career choices, marriages (theirs; ours), travel, moves, and recently: the birth of their daughter, Evelyn (called Evie). Reconnecting while I was in Colorado Springs on business this fall was a wonderful experience;…

We’re so excited for Angela + John’s wedding next year! We met them for their engagement session in downtown West Palm Beach for a fun afternoon of wandering the waterfront and up Clematis Street, ending at their nearby home for a few shots with their fur-babies (we love sessions with cats!). Click below for some of our favorites from this session. Xoxo-Em + Steve

Remember Jessica + David’s first baby, Sterling? (See their first family session from 2012 here.) Sterling is now a big brother, and Em was thrilled that her trip to the northeast coincided with Laurence’s birth (the family is calling him Laure). Em and Jessica went to the same elementary school, though several years apart, and connected later while Em was still in high school when Jessica started directing small outdoor productions of Shakespeare. (Believe it…

Lisa + Dave love a good party. Their relaxed wedding day was the perfect lead up to their reception, which felt like a warm gathering of fun friends and awesome relatives. We started in their neighborhood of Abacoa in Jupiter, headed down to the Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens for the beautiful morning ceremony and portraits, and finished the day at the Abacoa Golf Club, just steps away from their home and the bar Dave owns, Das…

We’ve kept in touch with the delightful Duffy family since Jessica + Ian were married in 2010. We hadn’t had a chance to photograph their newest addition to the family yet, so late afternoon at the family’s farm and woodshop was a real treat (speaking of which, you should check out Rockledge Farm for beautiful handmade furniture and kitchen tools). See a few of our favorites from their session earlier this summer below, and get in…

Our 4th of July holiday weekend kicked off with Mai-Vi + Paul’s intimate wedding in Boca Raton on July 3rd. We were blown away by the relaxed atmosphere of the small group of relatives and close friends, and felt immediately welcome. Mai-Vi started her day by going on a “fun run” with her girls (“just ten miles”– wow!), and then settled into her air conditioned suite at the Boca Raton Resort + Club to get ready.…

Andrea + Stephen found us because of networking, though in a very roundabout way. Em’s stepmother met a talented makeup artist in Burlington, Vermont a while back, and eventually we met Vivian Infantino in person while she was visiting family in Florida. We had yet to work together on a shoot, but kept meeting up for coffee (and eventually for some portraits of Vivian herself, in Hanover NH last summer). We were delighted when her nephew’s…

What do you do when a friend in the photography industry asks for help getting her car across the country? Volunteer to drive it, of course! Always up for an impromptu adventure, we exchanged our round-trip airline tickets to WPPI in Las Vegas for a one way flight home from Portland, Oregon. With three days notice. We had already been planning on visiting Portland after Vegas (Em’s sister and many of our friends live there),…

Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms we know and love out there, and especially to my mom, Evelyn, who’s at home in chilly Vermont today. (Wish you were here!) A quick look back to two of my favorite photos of Momma with her girls (from November of 2012, with photos by my oh-so-talented husband, Steve). –xoxo Em

We love our clients, and we love their weddings; from the most intimate elopement to the craziest blowout party, each event signifies families and friends coming together to celebrate the union of a couple they love to pieces. Natalie + Tim’s elegant black tie ball was no exception. Every part of the day was filled with laughter and smiles, friends and family there to help and witness. We knew when we photographed this beautiful couple…

You may remember Denise + Horacio from their engagement session not long ago, featuring books and laughter and love. Not surprisingly, their wedding captured much of the same flavor, bringing together two vibrant and energetic families, a beautiful traditional church service, and an elegant lakeside reception at the Boca Raton Spanish River Public Library. We loved seeing the theme of books tied carefully throughout the day: from beautifully folded book art and stacks of books at…

Going into Alex + Jared’s Palm Beach destination wedding we knew that they were drawing people from all over the United States and beyond. Friends and family came from Boston, New Hampshire, California, and Alex’s grandparents flew from nearby (ha!) Romania. (They were a delight.) Some flew in for New Year’s Eve celebrations a few days before the big day, some flew in for the rehearsal, and some were delayed on their way back out…

Anna + Michael found us through their beautiful ceremony venue, the Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens in West Palm Beach, Florida. Planning from far away Colorado, we didn’t have a chance to meet them until a couple of days before the big day, but their excited conversation and laid back, easy going personalities were infectious, and immediately won our hearts. Asking us to focus on capturing the day through candids, with a priority on their guests…

We had to share this with you. We’re enjoying family, food, holiday treats, and of course… Stannis. Who loves his Santa hat SO MUCH. Leave Stannis some comment love, and we’ll read them aloud when we put his hat back on tonight! We hope you’re having a great day regardless of whether or not you celebrate Christmas. Many xoxoxoxoxos from the Pogos!
