Kristine + Steve met us at one of our favorite Florida locations for a sweet stroll around the lovely Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens for their engagement session. Hailing from NYC, this couple has an incredible wedding day planned for this winter in Miami; we were so happy our schedules aligned so that we could also shoot their engagement session before the big day! Check out a few of our favorites with these two lovebirds…

From the first moment we spoke with them, Carly and Clay let us know that their vision for their wedding day was centered around family, friends, and fun. The reality of the day matched their vision perfectly, as all three of those things were on full display the entire day. Carly and Clay grew up in South Florida but currently live in the Washington D.C. area, making this both a destination wedding and a return…
Kate + Matt’s beautiful wedding day took place at the Jackson Gore Inn, a property within Okemo Mountain’s vast holdings. The Inn proved to be the perfect place for both bride and groom to get ready in separate suites, with the ceremony a quick golf cart ride away at the Toll Gate Garden, a new ceremony site that is so perfectly suited to a sweet outdoor ceremony that we’re surprised it wasn’t used sooner. Overlooking lovely…
From the moment we met Molly and Jess we knew we were a good fit. From the cats in their sweet country home to the way they made us (and each other!) laugh, to our meet up in the local Norwich Inn pub for hot pretzels and a drink, our relationship felt like one with old friends, not just new clients. We were excited to hear about their close family connections, particularly with their young daughter…
How do we begin to say how much we love working at Hildene? It’s a place that seems untouched by the passage of time, and lets you have a truly old-world feel at a facility with modern conveniences. Working with Nicole (the stellar wedding coordinator on-site) is an added bonus; she cares deeply for all of her wedding clients, and you can really see how much she puts into these events! Many couples choose to…
Nicole + Mike’s wedding at the Seagate Country Club in Delray Beach, Florida was a day full of smiles and laughs, with sparkling Floridian sunshine making the day glitter and shine. Nicole got ready with her bridesmaids and family at the Seagate Hotel just a few miles away in downtown Delray Beach; Mike got ready with his guys on site at the Seagate Country Club, where they have plenty of space and a full bar…
One of our favorite South Florida wedding venues is the Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens. The unique surroundings, the opportunity for varied and natural portraits, and the modern, outdoor ceremony and reception locations are perfectly suited for our style of photography. Jackie + Sean chose to have their wedding ceremony and celebration at the Morikami after getting ready at Jackie’s childhood home and a nearby hotel. The day started off threatening and rainy, with sudden…
Zion National Park. One of those parks we’d heard of, again and again, and always figured we’d end up there. But… we hadn’t quite realized just how close it is to Las Vegas (only 2.5 hours away by rental car). Let’s back up. Despite this being March 12th, this post is our 10 on 10 for the month. (Not sure what I’m talking about? Click here to see the first month and learn a bit more about the 10…
Our beautiful and awesome friends (oh right, they’re also clients!) Cheryl + Derek are bringing a new life into their home and the world… and we can’t wait to meet her. We found a secluded beach for some celebratory portraits, and Cheryl was her usual gorgeous self, rocking her new status as momma, while Derek’s antics cracked us all up. (Yes, you’re gorgeous too, Derek.) Thanks to these sweet people for trusting us to document…
Okay, this time-flying-by thing is getting a little scary. It’s February already, and it feels like we JUST posted January’s 10 on 10. (Not sure what I’m talking about? Click here to see the first month and learn a bit more about the 10 on 10 project, and click here to see all of the posts to date.) This month is a tiny bit different… we were in Vermont for a long weekend, meeting new friends in the wedding industry…
Spending time with Lindsay + Deche is like a breath of fresh air. Their love for each other is palpable, and their care and affection for the people around them– from their closest loved ones down to the service staff at their wedding venue– is kind and genuine. They laugh from the tips of their toes, crinkling their eyes and grinning for the whole world to see. Spending a day with them feels like we’re all…
We met up with Tara + Kevin at the Bonnet House in Fort Lauderdale for their engagement session, and wow– that place is worth checking out! We were restricted to shooting in the gardens only, but that was no problem; we easily could have shot there for days on end. It’s amazing how this oasis of trees and quiet is tucked right between bustling city streets! This was our first time meeting Kevin and we immediately…
In one of those wild coincidences, I planned a trip back to Vermont the same weekend that Jessica + David took their kiddos up for a family visit. Raw weather and a distinct lack of sunshine made for something of a challenge (this part of New England doesn’t often have snow so early in the season, so things mostly just look dead and trampled), but Jessica suggested some of Dartmouth’s campus, as the students were off for break. Perfect!…
Meeting new clients for the first time at an engagement session is always fun; meeting them for a walk deep into the woods in Maryland is even better! We hiked hills, picked our way over a stream on mossy rocks, and climbed big boulders, winding up by a lovely lake just before sunset. Adventurous? Absolutely. We think you’re going to like Tara and Josh, and we can’t wait to join them for their wedding next month.
There is nothing like the early morning fog on a Vermont lake. Melissa knows this; she has spent most of her summers on this exact lake, Lake Morey, at a girls’ summer camp that feels like stepping off the whirling merry-go-round of daily modern life into a place where you can breathe, swim, read, hike, and learn. The kind of sleep-away camp you read about in novels or see in movies, but this camp is completely…
Watching people you’ve known since before you were an adult grow and discover new avenues of happiness is one of our greatest pleasures in life. Em’s good college friend Jason, whom she met as a fledgling freshman at the Savannah College of Art & Design, has had his share of craziness in the last decade; everything from recovering from Hurricane Sandy’s path of destruction to creating the tremendously popular Asbury Park Zombie Walk in New Jersey…
Whoa, these months are just flying by, aren’t they? It’s already time for October’s 10 on 10 post! (Not sure what I’m talking about? Click here to see the first month and learn a bit more about the 10 on 10 project, and click here to see all of the posts to date.) We went on a pretty epic roadtrip this fall. We’ll have many, many more images in the near future (once we give our clients some extra…
We’re back and blogging! So happy to be back in the office for a few minutes at a time, we’ve been running all over the country for the last few months. Thank you to all of our clients for your patience while we get your blog posts together, we know you want to share images with your friends, loved ones, and maybe those people from high school you didn’t really like but wouldn’t mind impressing…
Another month has flown by, and it’s time for my second 10 on 10 post! (Didn’t see last month’s? Click here to see it and learn a bit more about the 10 on 10 project.) The images for this month’s post were so hard to narrow down. I spent three lovely days at Acadia National Park (we stayed at nearby Bar Harbor, Maine) with my dad and stepmom; having a full summer schedule I’ve barely had time to look…
We often photograph weddings at the Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens in West Palm Beach (as we will soon with Sarah + Todd’s upcoming day), but this was the first chance we’ve had to shoot an engagement session in this lush location. The day ended up being perfect for it; overcast skies with deep tree cover from the rare palms and jungle trees makes for a quiet beauty that isn’t always seen in our sunny state.…
One of the best things about our chosen path in photography is getting to meet new people and make new friends. You may recall Megan + Glen and their beautiful daughter Gabby from family portrait sessions we’ve published here; we actually met them at the wedding of their besties Nicole + Scott two years ago, and we were beyond thrilled when they asked us to be their photographers for their own wedding day. In what ended up…
And now for something completely different. As you may or may not have figured out already, we traveled for no reason other than fun and a love of adventure to Iceland last November. Why? Why not? It’s been on our bucket lists for years, and an insanely good deal on airfare and a hotel sealed the deal for us. While we eagerly awaited our departure date, Iceland seemed to pop up everywhere. Photographers we know…
We love our wedding clients. We really do. We end up becoming good friends with many, and stay in touch with nearly everyone after the wedding day. But sometimes there are clients who we instantly bond with from the moment we meet, and look forward to every time we see them from that point forward. Nicole + Scott (engagement, wedding, day after session) are the kind of people who make you grin the second you see them.…
I met Stacy + Ryan at the very beginning of their love story; while we’ve been in touch on Facebook and other internet connections, we hadn’t actually seen each other in ten years. In the ten years since then life has happened: college degrees, career choices, marriages (theirs; ours), travel, moves, and recently: the birth of their daughter, Evelyn (called Evie). Reconnecting while I was in Colorado Springs on business this fall was a wonderful experience;…
Remember Jessica + David’s first baby, Sterling? (See their first family session from 2012 here.) Sterling is now a big brother, and Em was thrilled that her trip to the northeast coincided with Laurence’s birth (the family is calling him Laure). Em and Jessica went to the same elementary school, though several years apart, and connected later while Em was still in high school when Jessica started directing small outdoor productions of Shakespeare. (Believe it…
